Garages - A Must for Year Round Mechanics

Garages are simple structures that provide a myriad of conveniences. The structures vary depending on size and design. Nonetheless, all provide shelter for indoor car parking, workshop area, and storage. The space is ideal for car maintenance and repair work because it is designed to house vehicles, provides electrical connections, and shelter.

Garages can be attached additions to homes. This convenience allows a car to be parked indoors, thus protected from weather, and allows owners to leave the house and enter the car protected from any harsh weather.

A detached garage is a structure that is separate from the home. Its short distance away from the house allows maintenance and repair projects to be performed at any hour without disturbing noises reaching people inside the house.

A breezeway garage combines the conveniences of the attached and detached variety. The actual structure is not attached to a house, but a breezeway or covered walkway connects it to the home. The covered addition allows homeowners partial protection from foul weather while keeping activities at a distance to the living area.

Vehicle malfunctions and maintenance requirements occur without regard for weather. A garage owner will never have to wait for decent weather in order to repair a vehicle. As a mechanics’ skill increases, so will the need for additional tools. The vehicle owner will always have a sheltered and secure space to store the necessary tools which eliminates the need to lug tools out of a cramped shed to the driveway and back to the shed when finished. A mechanical hobbyist will be able to tinker with his vehicle whenever the urge strikes, no matter the time of day or weather condition. Therefore, garages allow mechanics can work on vehicles year round.

Customise Your Home with a Carport Design

Carports are a useful addition to any property. While adding a full garage is not always possible for many reasons, carport designs can be even more flexible and more useful. With so many materials and functions to choose from, carports allow you to completely customise your design to fit your home's aesthetics and provide the ideal inexpensive way to shield your car from the elements.

There are a variety carport designs that are perfect for electric vehicles. If you're concerned with conserving power, this is a viable option. These carports have solar panels with plug-ins wired in for the vehicles. This is a great addition for those that are looking to remain environmentally-friendly. Corporations are also starting to utilise these carports.

Semi-truck drivers have to keep their trucks looking professional for their customers. If the driver is an owner operator, then a large carport is easier and cheaper than trying to erect a garage that large. This gives an area to not only protect their semi, but also a place to comfortably work on it. This is an economical way to store and protect such a valuable work investment.

Another vehicle owners want to protect includes recreational vehicles. Oftentimes, these vehicles are the size of buses and simply will fit into a standard garage. However, Fair Dinkum Sheds are completely customisable with the ability to choose the span, length and height of your carport, making it easy to fit a large recreational vehicle like an R.V.

Interested in a fully-customisable carport design? Call Fair Dinkum Sheds today at 1-800-786-878.

Colorbond Garages Provide Affordable Space and Storage Options

Colorbond garages can be created to blend seamlessly with the outside appearance of a house. A garage that serves as an extra space for recreation or entertaining can be stylish and functional, increasing the value of the house.

We offer a large selection of single and multi-car Colorbond garages. The standard measurements are three metres wide, six metres long and 2.4 metres high, but with our innovative design software we can custom create garages to suite our customer's unique requirements.

Some of the features that can be custom modified are as follows:

• Length
• Width
• Bay spacing
• Eave height
• Accessories (including roofing, colour and skylights)

The style and design of a Colorbond garage depends on the proposed use of it. A standalone structure can be used for parking vehicles or machinery; a connected structure could be used as a garage for a car, boat or caravan, or may also have home storage purposes. No matter where it is situated, the garage can be chosen to complement the architecture of the home.

Steel garages provide a strength, durability, and affordability that give them an advantage over those made of other materials. In fact, they are often as much as 400 per cent less expensive than timber or brick garages of the same size. Colorbond garages, in particular, are a solid investment because they have cladding that will keep them looking like new for years to come.

The colours available are dark and light red, green, blue and grey, as well as pale sand, cream and white. The walls, roof, gutter, down pipe, barge, doors, corner and open flashing can all be the same colour, or the door can one colour and the roof yet another. Basically, any combination is possible with our easily customisable colours.

Choose the Colorbond garage that best compliments your home design and add an inexpensive, attractive extra space or storage area. There are many styles of Colorbond garages available, including enclosed garages, drive through garages, open bays and garaports (which is a carport attached to a garage). Take a look at the options and choose the one that suits your life and needs best!

Garage Kits are an Inexpensive way to invest in a New Structure

Garage kits come with detailed instructions to make it easy for do-it-yourselfers to assemble their own structures. There are a few steps to follow when building from garage kits.

The first thing to do is to decide on the exact size and design and get a quote with engineered plans. In some places, submitting the plans to the local council for approval is required. The site then needs to be excavated and prepared for electric and plumbing and the footings need to be placed or a slab poured. Then, the frame is assembled, the cladding is applied, and the internal provisions and fit-out is completed.

The method of installation and the complexity of the instructions will vary according to the structure type, size, choice of footings and accessories. There are eight main steps:

1. Clear the land
2. Prepare the concrete slab or install alternative footings
3. Attach the sheeting to the frame
4. Erect the wall, prop it up and put braces on either side
5. When the walls are up, the gable end framings, roof purlins and rafters can be installed
6. Fix the apex and knee braces, roof sheeting and gable wall cladding
7. Complete the main structure with cappings, flashings, downpipes and any other finishing touches desired
8. Finally, install the windows, doors and any other accessories that were selected

Garage kits are a low cost way to get a high quality garage and can be easily put up by anyone who has the skills to assemble the parts.

The types of garage kits available can include the following:

• Single, double, triple or multiple car garages
• Custom garage
• Drive through garage
• Enclosed garage
• Enclosed garage with garaport
• Garage with garaport and lean-to

We offer garage designs that are certified to the Building Code of Australia and other government standards. Our steel connections, cold formed steel members, all steel sections, hot roller steel members, foundations and concrete are designed to meet stringent quality assessments. Our designs use CAD software and allow plans to be drawn and printed in minutes, ready for council submission.
